Women:

Washington State is out as they thought the tournament was next week. So play will go on two pools of three with a cross over match. 5 Pools of four. Pools will be updated to reflect changes on Thursday morning.

5 days to go!! First, thanks to Molten for sponsering this event. Pools are up for review any coments will be taken for 24 hours. Monday night pools will be frozen. You may pick up your packet Thursday night at the super 8 on Koval (behind bally's) Your packet will include your pools, tournament bracket and your map for getting around. This year our playing sites wil include the NEW UNLV Rec center(accross from cox Pavilon court entrance), the cox pavilon practice courts, the paradise rec center located 5 min away from UNLV and Mohave High school(20 minutes away from UNLV). A brief coaches meeting will be held at your playing facility 45 min prior to play. 7:45 for the women and 2:15 for the men. Play will start as soon as play can begin. It is very important to please make sure your teams act professional in all gyms and please, please make sure your teams clean up after. The format for the tournament will be pool play followed by a modified double. The women will have a gold division (top two teams form pool play), and silver (bottom two teams from pool play). The men's tournament will take the top 15 teams to gold. All first place teams get an automatic berth to gold, 2nd place teams will play in a challenge match, lossers of the challenge match and all third place teams will go to silver and all 4th place teams will play in the bronze. All games will be 2 out of 3 to 25, third game to 15. NIRSA/USA rules will be in use, I am also excited to have some of the best officals coming in from all over to work this event. All teams need to check in via email by Monday night to make sure all teams will be in attendance. Any team not checked in will get an email then dropped on wed. The Las vegas open is only three weeks away. Wow, how time fly's. Once again we hope your team has a great experience. This year we have the best of the best coming to Vegas for some great volleyball action. I would like to thank Super 8 and Circus Circus for giving us good rates on this busy weekend. All the info you will need will be emailed to you one week prior to the start of competition. You may pick up you packet Thursday night between 5pm and 8pm at the super 8. A brief coaches meeting will be held 1 hour before the start of play at your location, all teams need to be at your playing site at this time. This year competition will we held at the following locations; UNLV rec center Courts 1,2 and 3(this is a new building located across from the entrance to the practice courts at the cox pavilion, MPE will not be used). Cox pavilon courts 4, 5 and 6. Paradise rec center courts 7 and 8. Mojave or Silverado High school courts 9, 10, 11 and 12. Due to the high costs of taxi's it is advised that teams rent cars. Play will start on friday the 21st at 8:30 am fro the women and 3:00pm for the men. There is a possibility of 3 courts of women playing in the afternoon. Play will start on sat at 8:00am for the women and between10 and12 for the men. The championship game for the women will be played around 1:00 pm at UNLV on court 2. The men will play their championship game at 7:00pm at UNLV court 2. Please understand we can't control things like crazy rent a cops and the secret service that effect ed us last year, if every game goes three, that again is out of our hands and we will work very hard on getting you match started asap. There is to be no alcohol at any gym and please have your team on their best behavior we lost a gym two years due to behavior, they are giving us a second chance so lets not blow it.. Gyms are hard to come by in this town so please help us out and keep your teams under control . Oh yeah, and clean up after yourselves. I am working on an after party at studio 54 in the MGM. Welcome to the 2008 Las Vegas Open. The goal of our tournament staff is to give you a great event. Please let us know if there is anything you need. This years event will have 56 teams form all over the country. The construction is complete and we will be moving into the new unlv rec center located on campus. We will also be using the Cox Pavilon and two sites located off campus. Friday all playing facilities are located within 5-10 min of UNLV. For Saturdays tournament play, the gold division for both the men and women will be held at UNLV and the Cox Pavilon. The silver division for the women and the men's will be played at a local High School about 10-15 min away from UNLV, Please remember we want you to have fun but there is no alcahol allowed in any facility.

Invoices have been emailed to everyone last week If you did not get one please let me know.

Hotels - We have secured two hotels that are offering great rates. The cut off for these hotels is March 4th after that you are on your own and rooms are not cheap anymore for a fri/sat stay. The Circus Circus is a great hotel located on the strip. You have two choices a tower room or the Manor room. The manor rooms are a little older and resemble a Motel. It is a little bit of a walk if you are wanting to go to the Caesar's palace area.

Our other Hotel is a super 8 This Hotel is located one block off the strip and behind bally's. This hotel sits pretty much in the center of the strip. This is a nofrils Hotel but there is a casino, and some great food located next door at Ellis Island.

Coaches Meeting and Packet Pick up You may pick up you packet Thursday night between 5:30pm - 8:00 pm location will be determined. All informantion will be sent to your club president one week prior to play, a brief coaches meeting will take place 45 min prior to the first match on Court 1 of your facility.

The top two teams in each pool will advance to saturdays gold division, while the bottom two teams will compete in the silver division.

All teams should report at their playing site one hour before they are scheduled to start.

Gold Division will start between 12:00 and 2:00pm at UNLV and Cox Pavilon. (16 teams)

Silver Division will start at 1:00pm (at least you get a little sleep) at Green Valley High School. (14 teams)

Awards will be given out immediately following both championship games. Awards will be given out to all divison champions as well as individual awards to the all tournament team.
